The Gavel Art Trail & Auction
This Autumn, Forum Auctions is delighted to be taking part in The Gavel Art Trail and auction. The Bidpath Foundation's Gavel Art Trail is a nationwide fundraising initiative which is held in collaboration with Wild in Art.
Forum Auctions are one of fifteen auctions houses that are sponsoring and displaying supersized gavel sculptures that have been created by artists. The gavels will be on display to the public throughout September and October before being auctioned on Thursday 6th November to benefit the causes.
The auction will raise vital funds for three charities, The Brain Tumour Charity, The National Brain Appeal, and the ICPCN.
Vicki Wonfor, Forum Auctions' Chief Executive Officer, comments “We are proud to support The Gavel Art Trail and thrilled to collaborate with Dave Buonaguidi aka The Real Hackney Dave, whose generosity and creativity have brought our sponsored gavel to life. His bold and distinctive approach adds something truly special to this initiative, and we are delighted to see art being used in such a positive way - celebrating creativity while raising vital funds for important causes.”

The Real Hackney Dave
The Real Hackney Dave (Dave Buonaguidi) is a London-based artist who transforms the language of advertising and propaganda into bold, playful works of art. After a 30-year career in advertising where he co-founded leading agencies and created the iconic “MAKE TEA NOT WAR” poster; Dave discovered screen printing and made it his full-time focus.
Working with found materials such as vintage maps, copper plates and old photographs, he overlays striking phrases in vivid hand-pulled prints, often embellished with glitter, gold leaf or other unexpected media. His aim is simple: to spark an instant emotional reaction and to make art that is accessible, democratic and fun.
Dave has exhibited at the V&A, the Imperial War Museum and the Trento Museum of Modern Art, and his work is collected by the likes of Kate Moss, Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay. He also uses his art to support charities from the NHS to Tottenham Food Bank.
