Golden Cockerel Press.- Song of Songs (The) called by many the Canticle of Canticles, one of 750 copies, this copy with an Autograph Card, an Autograph Letter and a letter in a secretarial hand, all signed from Eric Gill to Father John O'Connor, and an additional suite of 20 plates, most signed or initialled and many captioned by Gill, prospectus loosely inserted, browning to endpapers, original white buckram, uncut, dust-jacket, foxed and browned, creasing and fraying to head, [Chanticleer 31; Gill 275], 4to, Waltham St. Lawrence, Golden Cockerel Press, 1925.

A remarkable copy, including letters from Gill to Father O'Connor, with whom he collaborated on the present work, regarding Gill's engravings and their suitability. The additional prints comprise a group of 13 early trial prints, all captioned and initialled by Gill (Physick 315-317, 319, 321, 323, 324, 327-332); a group of 3 prints (325, 326 & 334) each signed and numbered from an edition of 12; one example of "On My Bed at Night" (320) signed and marked "proof"; one example of "Swineherd" (60) signed and numbered from and edition of 25 and captioned "Shepherd"; and 2 examples of Stay me With Apples (305), one above 9 lines of text, signed and numbered 10/12, and another example, initialed and dated, without text.
