Greece.- Ortelius (Abraham) Graecia Sophiani, map of ancient Greece, western Turkey and the Grecian islands based on the 1545 woodcut map by Nikolaus Sophianos, engraving with some early hand-colouring, platemark 347 x 495 mm (13 3/4 x 19 1/2 in), sheet 425 x 550 mm (16 3/4 x 21 3/4 in), Latin text verso, minor surface dirt, some handling creases, unframed, [1579]; together with Ortelius' Thraciae Veteris Typus, a 1608 Italian text edition, the map showing ancient Thrace based on Gastaldi's 1560 map of South East Europe, engraving with early hand-colouring, platemark 355 x 475 mm (14 x 18 3/4 in), sheet 455 x 565 mm (17 7/8 x 22 1/4 in), central vertical fold with expert repairs to old splitting to lower section, some minor spotting and surface dirt, unframed, [1608]
