Description

Bible, Greek.- Divinae Scripturae, Veteris ac Novi Testamenti, (Graeca), woodcut initials, head and tailpieces, ink annotations throughout, bookplate and ink ownership inscription to title, lacking preface by Melancthon (2 leaves), fore-edge titled in ink and surrounded by coats of arms, cracked hinges, contemporary calf, rebacked, worn and rubbed, small loss to corners and spine extremities, [Adams 978], folio, Basilae, Ioan Hervagium, 1545.

⁂ The lower of the fore-edge coats of arms belonged to Fernando de Toledo Oropesa (1520-1590), who refused the appointment of Cardinal from Pope Gregory XII.
