Description

After José de Ribera (1591-1652) Large grotesque head, etching, on laid paper with indistinct armorial watermark, numbered '10' in brown ink upper right, plate mark 160 x 134 mm. (6 1/4 x 5 1/4 in), sheet 204 x 150 mm. (8 x 5 7/8 in), some loss to margins, trimmed within plate mark on left hand edge, surface dirt and light browning, unframed, [Bartsch 9 (copy)], [17th century] § Sadeler II (Aegidius, 1568-1629) Lucretia, after Hans von Aachen (1552-1616), etching, on laid paper with armorial watermark surmounted by crescent moon, plate mark 200 x 140 mm. (7 7/8 x 5 1/2 in), sheet 245 x 175 mm. (9 5/8 x 6 7/8 in), printers' crease, some rubbing, surface dirt, and light browning, unframed, [Hollstein 118.47], circa 1585-1630; together with the frontispiece by Benigno Bossi (1727-1793) for the artist's 'Prove d'aqua forte', etching, 97 x 72 mm. (3 3 /4 x 2 3/4 in), circa 1765; and with 10 engraved views of the Roman Forum and other ruins, published by Marco Sadeler, from 'Vestigi delle antichita di Roma Tivoli Pozzuolo et altri luochi', each approx. 160 x 280 mm. (6 1/4 x 11 in), tipped onto paper support, some spotting and surface dirt, all unframed, circa 1660, (13).
