Description

Darly (M[ary]) A Book of Caricaturas, on 59 Copper Plates, with ye Principles of Designing, in that Droll & pleasing manner..., engraved throughout with title in decorative cartouche, one leaf of text and 57 etched plates on 29 leaves, price on title altered in ink from "2s 6" to "3s 6", plate 10 with faint pencil additions, one or two with slight foxing, later cloth-backed boards, paper label on spine, rubbed, spine faded, 4to, for R.Wilkinson, [?1762].

⁂ Rare. Three copies of this work have appeared at auction since 2000 but all in 8vo format and with the imprint "for John Bowles". No copy of either listed by ESTC or COPAC.
