⁂ A handsomely printed edition of the 'Hymns' and 'Sentences'. Callimachus was a poet, critic and scholar at the Library of Alexandria, where he carried out a bibliographical survey of the holdings, know as Pinakes. This 120 volume work provided a foundation for later work on Greek literature.
