Toys & Games.- Lott's Bricks, Ltd. Solid Stone Building Bricks, No.1, 3 sets of Lott's architectural building blocks, 2 sets identical with red, white and blue blocks, 2 roofs and instruction booklet (sufficient for 30 different models), the third set lacking booklet but with 2 trees, all in original card boxes with lids, rubbed and soiled, [1920s]; and 8 others, games, jig-saws etc. including a set of 'Genuine Architectural Cookie Cutters' produced by MOMA in 1968 and including the Sears Tower, Sydney Opera House and the Chrysler Building (11)

⁂ Up until the First World War all toys such as these building blocks were of German manufacture but with the ban on German goods English firms started to produce similar items. E.A.Lott started selling these sets in 1918, providing jobs for ex-servicemen. The blocks in the early sets were produced in cream and red or black, later ones such as in the third set here were painted different colours and incised to denote walls, timber, doors etc.
