Americana.- Mora (José Maria) Cabinet photograph portrait of Rutherford B. Hayes with printed signature, mounted on card with "707 Broadway, N.Y" printed to lower corner, faded around margins, some browning to recto, worse to verso, loosely inserted into black frame, photograph 140 x 100 mm, card mount 164 x 108 mm, frame 324 x 230 mm, c.1880.

⁂ Rutherford B. Hayes, the 19th U.S. president (1877–1881), was a Civil War hero. Notably, he promoted hiring government workers based on ability rather than connections and handled numerous challenges including the Great Railroad Strike, thereby helping to shape the nation’s future.
