Description

Architecture.- Rome.- Desgodets (Antoine) The Ancient Buildings of Rome, 2 vol., parallel titles and text in French and English (first French title dated 1771), 44 engraved plates only (of 137), few very short marginal tears, the odd spot or light stain, occasional light offsetting, lightly browned, most text leaves and some plates strengthened at inner-margin, once or twice touching caption to head of plate, each leaf/plate numbered in pencil to upper blank corner, ex-Royal College of Art Library with bookplate/labels to endpapers, titles with ink-stamp and embossed stamp to foot and very small ink-stamp to verso of each plate, later cloth, quite worn with some loss to spine ends, joints split at ends and with some small loss, [ESTC N30175; Harris 197], folio, for I. and J. Taylor, 1795.

⁂ First published in Paris in 1682. This is a re-issue of the first English edition of 1771-95, with the title-page to vol. 1 reset.
