Description

Bible, English.- The Holy Bible, containing the Old and New Testaments, engraved plates, extra-illustrated with 20 other engraved plates bound in, some cut down, a couple of loosely inserted photographic plates on card, foxed and browned with some offsetting, manuscript in ink to front endpapers, contemporary red calf with gilt border, spine gilt in compartments with morocco label, spine faded, extremities rubbed and bumped with scratches and scuffs, [ESTC T123182], folio, Oxford, The Clarendon Press, 1786.

⁂ This is a family Bible belonging to the Evans family of Norfolk, featuring extensive handwritten annotations. The additional plates included are sourced from another 1785 family Bible published by W. Richardson and I. Fielding.
