⁂ Peggy Angus (1904-93) was a painter and designer who attended the Royal College of Art with Ravilious and Bawden, Barnett Freedman and Enid Marx. She was close friends with Ravilious and his wife Tirzah and they frequently stayed with her at Furlongs, her cottage on the South Downs where he painted many watercolours, most notably Tea at Furlongs. A founding member of the left-wing Artists International Association and known as "Red Angus" she was married for a while to J.M.Richards, the author of High Street.
