Funerals.- Guichard (Claude) Funerailles, & diverses manieres d'ensevelir des Rommains, Grecs, & autres nations, tant anciennes que modernes, first edition, title within fine woodcut architectural border, dedication printed in civilité type, woodcut head-pieces, decorative initials and illustrations, contemporary ink inscriptions to title and a few annotations to text, title lightly soiled, some water-staining and worming to upper margins affecting head-lines, eighteenth century sprinkled calf with triple gilt fillet and floral ornament to corners, spine gilt, a little rubbed, short split to upper joint, slight wear to head of spine, [Adams G1545; Not in Sabin], 4to, Lyons, Jean de Tournes, 1581.

⁂ Important study of death and funeral rituals from Greek and Roman times to the date of publication, including those of the Native Americans.
