T. (S.) An Historical Account of the Heroick Life and Magnanimous Actions of . . . James Duke of Monmouth, engraved portrait by F. H. Van Houe (shaved at fore-edge), lacking final advertisement leaf (blank in some copies), browned, [Wing T53], 1683 § Historical Memoires of the Life and Death of that Wise and Valiant Prince Rupert..., engraved portrait, title and portrait soiled, [Wing H2104], 1683, first editions, titles within double-rule border, contemporary sheep, worn, upper covers detached, 8vo, for Thomas Malthus (2)
⁂The first is a scarce biography of the Duke of Monmouth. The effusive tone of the work indicates its purpose was largely propagandist as popular support for Monmouth grew in the build up to his ill-fated rebellion 2 years later.
