Fashion.- Journal des Dames et des Modes, 3 vol. only, a broken run, text in French, 158 engraved plates (lightly toned), most with hand-colouring, lacking a few issues, 1 vol. ink ownership inscription and stamp to first few ff., occasional staining, occasional circular ink-stamps to text ff. (not affecting plates) to 2 vol., foxing to 1 vol., 2 vol. uncut in contemporary boards, the other in half calf, board spines browned, all rather worn, 1 vol. with single upper wrapper bound in, 8vo, Paris or Frankfurt, 1802-09-12; sold as a periodical; subject to no return.

⁂ Le Journal des Dames et des Modes is the second oldest fashion magazine in France and had been the channel of French fashion in France and across Europe, influencing many contemporary fashion magazines. An attractive collection of plates illustrating men and women's fashion of the early nineteenth century.
