⁂ Blessed James Philip (1454-83) was born within the diocese of Faenza (Italy) and dedicated from a young age to the Servites, or 'Order of Servants of Mary'. Ordained as a priest as an adult, he was renowned for his personal piety and love of the Scriptures, Fathers of the Church an the liturgy. He is buried in the Cathedral at Faenza, and Pope Clement XIII approved devotion to him in 1761.
