Flinders family, of Lincolnshire.- ?Flinders (Matthew, surgeon, 1750-1802, father of Matthew Flinders, naval officer and hydrographer of the coast of Australia, 1774-1814).- Lincolnshire Bills, (title in text), manuscript bills, rentals, expenses account book, 12pp. excluding blanks (including 2 pastedowns), entries in ink and pencil, 1f., original marbled wrappers, damp-stained, 8vo, dated in text 1780.
⁂ A slight but interesting account book recording that Mr Flinders owed £1:16s a month and Mr Gleed (Flinders attorney and family friend), who handled Flinders's legal and financial affairs, owed 14 shillings a month. Included is a list of expenses mentioning a stay at the Red Cow in Donington (Flinders home town), "Turnpikes to Wisbeach: 6½"; "Spalding White Hart Ostler" & "Red Lyon Boston: 8."
