[Scrap Album relating to The Savage Club], including: a receipt with pencil illustrations, 'An address of Welcome to the American and Australian guests of the Savage Club', 2 event programmes for The Savage Club at the Royal Albert Hall, 12 menus, including 1 for the annual dinner of 1887, one or two menus illustrated by Dudley Hardy or Wallis Mackay, a few split at foldlines, a few laid down with green wax seals, some loose, a few edges with small tears or chips, occasional light foxing or soiling, original cloth, joints split but holding, covers soiled, a little worn, 4to, c.1880s.

⁂ The Savage Club was founded in October 1857, as a 'meeting of gentlemen connected with literature and the fine arts, and warmly interested in the promotion of Christian knowledge, and the ale of exciseable liquids.' Notable members have included Sir J. M. Barrie, Charlie Chaplin, Mark Twain, Wilkie Collins, Sir Edward Elgar, Sir Henry Irving, P. G. Wodehouse and Sir Peter Ustinov.
