Harte (Bret) The Queen of the Pirate Isle, first edition, colour illustrations by Greenaway, signature of Eugene Field and forged signatures of Kate Greenaway and Bret Harte on title, also forged signature of Mark Twain on half-title, ink inscription by Field at end and bookplate on front free endpaper, forged letter from Greenaway loosely inserted, small tears at foot of half-title and title, original pictorial covers and spine bound in at end, modern half morocco, gilt, g.e., sm. 4to, Chatto and Windus, n.d. [1886].
⁂ The letter from Greenaway is a clear forgery with the address, "50 Frognal" but Greenaway lived at 39 Frognal Street, Hampstead.
Inscription reads: "This book is from the library of my father, Eugene Field, Eugene Field II. Sept 2 - 1923."
