Aesop. Aesop's Fables. With Instructive Morals and Reflections..., edited by Samuel Richardson, engraved vignette title and 25 plates, each with 10 illustrations, a little soiled and stained, title with border at fore-edge slightly frayed and trimmed (laid down), cropped with slight loss to numbering of plates, contemporary sheep, rebacked in morocco with green morocco label, corners repaired, preserved in modern cloth drop-back box, 12mo, by S.Richardson for T. & T.Longman, C.Hitch & L.Hawes..., [1753].

⁂ Third edition of Richardson's first book and also printed by him, first published in 1739, the year before Pamela. One of two issues, this issue with the catchwords on pages xxv, 182 and 191 being "Recom-", "MORAI." and "le" respectively. All early editions are scarce with ESTC listing only 5 copies of this third edition.
