⁂ Dr Richard Farmer (1735-97), Shakespearean scholar, Master of Emmanuel College, Vice Chancellor of Cambridge University 1775-56 & 1787-88 and Principal Librarian 1778 onwards. His library was sold in London in 1798, including 12 Caxtons and a volume of poetical pieces printed by Wynkyn de Worde. 8155 books realised £2210.
