Rackham (Arthur, painter and illustrator, 1867-1939) Autograph Letter signed to "Dear Mr. Kirby", 3pp., 8vo, Stilegate, Limpsfield, Surrey, 23rd October 1936, referring to the display of of one of his illustrations of Goldsmith's The Vicar of Wakefield, "I am rather glad you have a word to say for the Vicar & Olivia. I have a weakness for it myself. But is is, I fear, a 'weakness'. The feeling underlying the whole passage is so poignant, so heart rending, that I make the drawing in the utmost fear. I like Chodovictoky [Chodowiecki]... . He was an ancestor of Mrs. Allingham! I don't think I so much cared for Sullivan's. (A great man, all the same). And Hugh Thomson is amiable as always, but not so good - as in Crawford - a great work," punch holes for filing at tail, folds.
