[Busby (Thomas Lord)] Costume of the Lower Orders in Paris, engraved pictorial title and 28 plates, all hand-coloured, one plate folding, charming copy in contemporary red polished calf, gilt, g.e., expertly rebacked by Morell preserving original spine, endpapers renewed, extremities very lightly rubbed but excellent overall, [Colas 493], [c.1820]; and another similar but anonymous work, depicting 'Scenes in Paris', printed by E. Wallis, 12mo (2)
⁂ A charming costume work depicting Parisian street traders. The usual milk women and chimney sweeps appear, alongside some more particular vendors: a dealer of dogs, a packthread seller, and a vendor of songs remind us perhaps of less glamourous though very vivacious picture of the Parisian streets.
The other work similarly groups jugglers and dog-shearers alongside workers carrying a hospital gurney.
