Description

Aesop. Recueil de Fables d'Ésope, et autres Mythologistes; Les Mêmes, mises en vers par La Fontaine, half-title, engraved frontispiece of Aesop with animals and 75 engraved illustrations of fables by Augustin Legrand, all hand-coloured, advertisement leaf at end, light damp-staining to head of frontispiece and first few leaves, some other light soiling or staining, later half crimson morocco over pink pastepaper boards, spine gilt in compartments, preserved in modern cloth drop-back box, [Not in Cohen-de Ricci], 4to, Paris, Marcilly, An VIII 1799.

⁂ Scarce work, particularly so with the illustrations hand-coloured. The price is quoted on the title: "En noir, 6 francs 50 centimes. En couleur, 12 francs."
