Description

Spiritualism.- Home (D[aniel] D[unglas]) Incidents in My Life, signed presentation inscription from the author on half-title, dated April 27th 1863, some light browning, spotting, gutter cracked at points but holding firm, original purple decorative cloth, gilt, fading to spine, small nick to foot of upper joint, some light rubbing to spine ends and corners, mostly unopened, 8vo, Longman, Green, Longman, Roberts & Green, 1863.

⁂ Daniel Dunglas Home (1833-86) was a Scottish medium and psychic, known for his ability to apparently speak to the dead, levitate to varying heights, and produce spirit rappings at will. Harry Houdini described Home as "one of the most conspicuous and lauded of his type and generation" in his A Magician Among the Spirits.
