Greene (Graham) The Lawless Roads, first edition, first issue with yellow endpapers and gilt on spine, illustrations, a few instances of spotting, original red cloth, spine lettered in gilt, dust-jacket, spine a little faded, a little fraying and creasing to upper edge, otherwise an excellent and bright example, 1939; and a proof copy of the same work, 8vo (2)
⁂ The rare first issue of Greene's account of the travels that inspired The Power and the Glory (1940). Longmans financed his five month trip to Mexico in 1938, where he compiled (rather hostile) notes on the continued persecution of the Catholic Church following the Cristero War.
