Description

Spain.- Goury (M. Jules) and Owen Jones. Plans, Elevations, Sections and Details of the Alhambra, 2 vol., first edition, additional chromolithographed titles, 102 plates, of which 67 chromolithographed, 2 hand-coloured plans and the rest uncoloured (4 double-page), many tissue-guards, plate 7 trimmed very slightly at fore-edge and with a few repairs (not affecting image), plate 47 tear to upper-edge not affecting image, plates numbered in later pencil, occasional soiling, foxing, some creasing to peripheral leaves, some leaves brittle or frayed at edges, contemporary half morroco, backstrips lacking, all leaves loose, [Abbey, Travel 156], large folio, Owen Jones, 1842-45; sold not subject to return.

⁂ A rather tatty and essentially disbound copy of Owen Jones's monumental work on the Alhambra, in Granada, Spain, superbly illustrated with fine chromolithographed plates.
