Speed (John) The History of Great Britaine under the conquests of ye Romans, Saxons, Danes and Normans, second edition, engraved architectural title depicting each of the respective peoples, numerous woodcuts of coins & medallions, portraits and coats-of-arms, a few engraved genealogies, woodcut head- & tail-pieces and decorative initials, title soiled, spotted and browned, severely in parts, one or two minor tears and repairs, mostly marginal, final blank lacking lower outer corner, contemporary ink inscription "George England 1695" to front free endpaper, printer's waste pastedowns, contemporary panelled calf, rubbed, rebacked preserving old spine, corners repaired, [STC 23048], folio, by George Humble, 1627.

⁂ Revised second edition of this work intended to accompany Speed's atlas The Theatre of the Empire of Great Britaine, and first published in 1611 with the aid of Robert Cotton.
