Cook, original parchment-backed boards with Century Guild monogram by Mackmurdo to upper cover, uncut, rubbed and soiled, corners a little worn, Orpington, G. Allen, 1883.
⁂ Arthur Heygate Mackmurdo (1851-1942) was an architect and designer who founded the Century Guild in 1882 and also its associated magazine The Century Guild Hobby Horse in 1884. The title-page of this work with its striking design of sinuous foliage is recognised as the first printed expression of Art Nouveau in England.
