Description

Geology.- Buckland (Rev. William) Vindiciae Geologicae; or the Connexion of Geology with Religion Explained, presentation copy from the author to William Thomas Horner Fox Strangways with ink inscription to front free endpaper, half-title, very occasional light spotting, later brown wrappers, peeling paper label to upper cover, bumped with a few short tears to edges, 4to, Oxford, at the University Press for the Author, 1820.

⁂ Buckland's work combined the new science of geology with religion, merging geological evidence with Creation and Noah's Flood. William Fox Strangways was the author of Geological Sketches of the Environs of Petersberg, which was one of the earliest works on the geology of Russia. Both geologists made strong contributions to the field of geology.
