Africa.- Equiano (Olaudah) The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavus Vassa, the African. Written by Himself, engraved frontispiece, title loose, title and other ff. creased and foxed, browned throughout (heavy in places), small ink stain affecting a few margins, contemporary tree calf, rubbed, upper cover detached, gilt spine rubbed and faded, 8vo, Penryn, 1815.
⁂ The author was sold as a slave to Virginia, then bought by an Englishman and shipped to Falmouth and the Channel Islands. His master was a naval officer, and he accompanied him on the Louisbourg expedition. He afterwards went to the West Indies, visiting various islands, served on Capt. Phipps' Arctic expedition, visited Jamaica, etc.
