⁂ Following the closure of the Vale Press in 1903 Pissarro was henceforth unable to use the Vale type and so designed his own typeface. The first was the first book printed in his new Brook type and serves as a bibliography of the Vale books. The first is dedicated to Charles Ricketts, the second to Sybil Pye. Moore introduced Pye to Ricketts who sparked her interest in bookbinding and she produced her first binding in 1906.
