Description

Europe.- De Moleville (Bertrand) The Costume of the Hereditary States of the House of Austria, text in English and French, 50 hand-coloured aquatints watermarked 'J. Whatman 1819' and '1820', one or two plates with neat pencil note in French, marginal spotting and damp-staining, signature of Lady Ogilvy dated 1822 to front free endpaper verso, contemporary straight grain morocco, gilt borders, richly gilt spines, rubbing to corners and extremities, [Abbey Travel 71], 4to, 1804 [but c.1820].

⁂ This matches the copy in Abbey, also watermarked J. Whatman 1819. 'A late reprint probably by McLean; early copies are on paper watermarked prior to 1804 ...' (Abbey).
