Prophecy.- Lilly (William) Catastrophe Mundi: or, Merlin Reviv'd, in a Discourse of Prophecies and Predictions, and their Remarkable Accomplishment. With Mr. Lilly's Hieroglyphicks exactly cut, 16 whole-page woodcut illustrations only (of 17), one with some two-tone hand-colouring (?presumably later), lacking B2-7 (which includes the woodcut), without D1 as called for, D2 & G3-5 with closed linear incisions (no losses), hinges broken with contents loose, contemporary calf, worn, [Wing L2214], small 8vo, John How, 1683.
⁂ A separate reissue of the appendix to Lilly's 1651 work Monarchy or No Monarchy, retaining the woodcut showing a city in flames, which caused trouble for the author in the aftermath of the Great Fire of London in 1666, when he was summoned by a parliamentary committee suspicious of his possible involvement. Scarce: ESTC traces three copies only in the UK, all at the British Library, and five in the USA, and we trace only one copy at auction in the UK in the past decade.
