⁂ Both volumes are bound differently, as often, given the time difference between the first and final volume being published.
The first volume of Voyage Pittoresque received such acclaim that in 1784 Choiseul-Gouffier was appointed as ambassador at Constantinople, where he remained until removed by the revolutionary government in 1792.
