Gigantism.- The Italian giant.- Fougeron (Ignace) Bernardus Gigli Tridentin, after Henry Millington (active ca. 1761-1764), engraved portrait of Bernardo Gigli, full-length, slightly turned to the right, extending one hand to be examined by a gentleman, dressed in an embroidered frockcoat and waistcoat with a powdered tie-wig on his head, on laid paper with large Strasbourg lily watermark sheet 545 x 415 mm (21 1/2 x 16 1/4 in), marginal nicks and small tears, mostly repaired verso, handling creases, minor surface dirt, manuscript pen and ink number '20' in the lettered margin, unframed, [circa 1750]
