⁂ Considered by some to be the first professional juggler in England, Samee came to the country in 1819. He achieved considerable success with an act that included fire eating, sword swallowing, and magic tricks, graduating from street performer to theatre-filling stage entertainer. Despite public plaudits, he died penniless in 1850.
