The model (12 x 6 ft.) was constructed by a miner (Mr. T. Smith) over the course of two years, and demonstrated 'the mode by which the earth is raised to the surface, and conveyed in waggons along the railroad; the ore broken
into pieces by women, and prepared for the crushing machine, sifted and prepared for exportation to Swansea'.
