A Treatise on the quality and virtues of the Nottington water, near Weymouth, half-title, folding letterpress table 'A list of the most noted mineral waters in Europe', list of subscribers, a few later pencil dates to margins of list of subscribers, occasional spotting, original drab printed wrappers, spine worn, but holding firm, a wide-margined copy, 8vo, Weymouth, Printed for the author by G. Kay, [c.1820].
⁂ Rare, with WorldCat recording only two copies (BL and Bristol). Nottington's spa was popular with 'the quality from aristocratic Weymouth, who flocked to drink the waters' which were claimed to be beneficial for 'eruptive complaints, scrophula, and loss of appetite' (Sir Frederick Treves, Highways and Byways in Dorset, 1905). Subscribers include the physician and vaccine pioneer Edward Jenner. The Spa House still stands and is now a private home.
