Description

Trial of Warren Hastings.- 2 entrance tickets for the 22nd and 75th days of the Hastings trial at Westminster Hall, engraved, ink name and remains of wax seal to foot of that for 22nd day, folds, some spotting or soiling, that of 22nd day with piece torn from margin, mounted on thin card along with an engraving of trial scene, c.189 x 145mm. & 212 x 168mm., no printer, [c.1788].

⁂ 'there was an enormous demand for tickets of admission to the Hall, and it is said that as much as 50 pounds was offered for a single ticket' (Charles Lawrence, The Private Life of Warren Hastings, 1905, p. 104).
