⁂ The first Marsden edition of Marco Polo's 13th century travels across Asia which were originally published in German in 1477. This edition was preceded in English only by John Frampton's rare translation of 1579.
Provenance: William Beckford (1760-1844), novelist, writer and collector, whose library passed to his son-in-law, the 10th Duke of Hamilton, and was sold in the great Hamilton Palace sales of 1882-83.
