⁂ A rare set at auction of the first collected edition of the works of Cyril of Alexandria (c.376 - 444), who was the Patriarch of Alexandria from 412 to 444. This Doctor of the Church was a central figure in the Christological controversies of the late 4th and 5th centuries, and in the Council of Ephesus in 431.
