⁂ D.M.H. was Daisy Hawkins, teenage daughter of the Gill's servant Mrs. Hawkins, and with whom Gill had an intense affair towards the end of his life from 1937-39. He drew Daisy constantly and drawings of her appear in both 25 Nudes and Drawings from Life; when he died he bequeathed to her all the remaining original drawings of her from the latter.
