His first published book Carrie (1974) was followed by a litany of best-sellers in print and at the box office: The Shining (1977), Cujo (1981), Pet Sematary (1983), Misery (1987), The Green Mile (1996) and The Shawshank Redemption (from a novella in his 1982 collection Different Seasons).
