Creator of hero Simon Templar, aka The Saint, who appeared for the first time in Meet the Tiger (1928) and then in numerous other novels and short-stories. The eponymous hero appeared over many years in the 1960s on TV, played by Roger Moore prior to his portrayal of another suave operator, James Bond.
