Remembered today as the husband of the English novelist Dorothy Richardson, Odle was himself a gifted illustrator. With a grotesque and subversive style, many consider Odle to be a precursor of surrealism. He achieved little success in his lifetime but has since been labelled one of the 20th century’s unrecognised prodigies.
