Description

M. Chapoutier, Hermitage, De l'Oree Blanc [domaine release - signed Methuselah] , 2007
100% Marsanne from vines aged between 60 and 70 years old. All of Chapoutiers' vineyards are farmed organically and the wines certified biodynamic. Half of the wine is fermented in 600 litre wooden barrels and the other half in tanks. It then matures on the lees for 6 months with regular stirring before ageing in barrel for between 10 and 12 months. In this impressive Methuselah format and thanks to the generosity of the vintage, this wine is likely to keep for 30 to 40 years. 100% Marsanne from Les Murets. Beautiful golden colour. Still in prime condition on the nose: tropical, buttery, pineapple, crystallised ginger and honeysuckle. It has heat without fire, and is wonderfully treacly in texture. The finish transforms into a more savoury note with toasted nut and earthiness. Beautifully rendered. Large in every dimension, yet remains in proportion. Robert Harding MW (July 2021) JancisRobinson.com This Methuselah is signed by Michel Chapoutier, Mathilde Chapoutier and Maxime Chapoutier.
