Isherwood (Christopher) Autograph Letter signed and 5 Typed Letters signed, 7pp. and one envelope, Santa Monica and Los Angeles, California, 9th January 1955 - 16th September 1962, discussing the novels of Kingsley Amis "I liked Lucky Jim but like his other book "That Uncertain Feeling" even more; working in films including an attempted adaptation of Romain Rolland's Jean-Christophe; caring for Don Bachardy after he caught hepatitis before Don had to care for him when her caught the same; seeing my Fair Lady "I liked the part Shaw wrote, not much of the rest"; Don Bachardy's drawings "We have no art treasures or valuables, except for Don's work and a self-portrait by Tennessee Williams which will certainly end up in a museum", a few small corrections by hand, folds; and 2 photographs of the young Paul Taylor, 8vo (8)

⁂ An excellent group of letters to Paul Taylor, a young British fan who wrote to Isherwood while in hospital being treated for TB. Isherwood visited Taylor in hospital while in the UK and the two struck up a friendship and correspondence that lasted several years. Isherwood wrote about the hospital visit in his diaries (pp.590-91).
