⁂ Large and impressive view showing the Old Barracks at Lavant from the land side, across surrounding countryside, including dwelling houses on the outskirts of the village of Scutari, on the Beshiktash bank on the Bosphorus. The barracks were constructed by Sultan Selim III (reigned 1789-1807), and were where allied forces collected prior to their proposed march against Napoleon and the French in Egypt.
