Dust-jacket designs.- Sax. Collection of 65 original dust-jacket designs, some signed, original artworks in brush and black ink with water-colouring, some heightened with white, c.210 x 135mm (8 1/4 x 5 1/4 in), most mounted on black card, one or two working loose, occasional soiling or marginal tears to mount not affecting images, c.1950s.
⁂ A substantial collection of varied dust-jacket designs. Little is recorded about the artist known as 'Sax' though he seems to have produced numerous designs from the mid-40s to 1960s, particularly for the publisher Hammond & Hammond. He is perhaps best known for his designs for thrillers and detective novels.
